Migration guide

Drift is shutting down. Here are your options.

Salesloft has confirmed the standalone Drift product is being wound down. If you use Drift to qualify website leads, this is a practical, vendor-neutral look at where to go next.

Last updated: September 2026

What is happening

Drift was acquired by Salesloft and folded into the wider Salesloft platform. Salesloft has since confirmed that Drift as a standalone product is being wound down, with its conversational features moving into the broader suite.

For existing customers this means one of three moves: migrate to the Salesloft platform, switch to another conversational or lead-qualification tool, or step back to a simpler setup. The right answer depends on how much of Drift you actually used.

What this means for you

Check your contract renewal date first. That is your real deadline, not any public announcement.

Export your data before you lose dashboard access: conversation history, contacts and leads, playbook configuration, and any reporting you depend on.

Audit what you used Drift for. Most teams used a fraction of it, usually the chat widget, lead routing and notifications. If that is you, a full platform migration is more than you need.

Your options, honestly

There is no single replacement, because Drift did several jobs at once. Match the tool to the job you actually need.

Salesloft (the official path)

Best for: Teams already on Salesloft for sales engagement that want everything in one platform.

Watch out: It is a platform migration with platform pricing and onboarding. Heavy if you only used the chat widget.

Qualified

Best for: Salesforce-centred sales orgs that want AI pipeline generation, account identification and an AI SDR.

Watch out: Enterprise setup and pricing, and it expects Salesforce. Similar weight class to Drift.

Intercom

Best for: Teams that also want a support inbox, help centre and an AI answer agent alongside chat.

Watch out: You are buying a support platform. Seat-plus-usage pricing adds up if lead qualification is all you need.

A plain contact form

Best for: Low enquiry volume where someone reads every message within the hour.

Watch out: No qualification, no scoring, no after-hours coverage. Back to guessing which leads matter.

ConvoScore

Best for: Teams that mainly used Drift to catch and qualify website leads and want that running again quickly, self-serve, without a platform.

Watch out: No meeting routing, ABM playbooks or live-rep inbox. It qualifies, scores and briefs, then hands off.

How to export your Drift data

Contacts and leads: from Settings, open Contacts and use the export option to pull a CSV. On an API plan, the Contacts API returns the same data with more fields.

Conversation history: in the Conversations view, filter by date range, then export. For a full archive, ask Drift or Salesloft support for a bulk export while your account is still active.

Playbooks and routing: there is no clean export, so screenshot or document each active playbook, its targeting rules and its routing logic before you lose access.

Reporting: export the saved reports you actually use to CSV, then rebuild only the few that matter in the new tool rather than recreating all of them.

If you want the qualification part without the platform

ConvoScore is a single script tag. It runs a short AI conversation with each visitor, scores the lead HOT, WARM or COLD with a written reason, summarises what they want, and alerts your team. You describe a good lead in plain language, so there is no playbook builder to rebuild.

There is a free tier, setup takes minutes, and there is nothing to migrate. It will not route meetings or run account-based plays, so if those were core to your Drift setup, look at Qualified or Salesloft instead.
